DEFRA has confirmed that the Report Receipt of Waste Service experienced a service interruption on 7 October 2026, affecting a number of software providers and users submitting Digital Waste Tracking data.

DEFRA has advised that the Report Receipt of Waste Service was temporarily shut between 08:30 and 10:50 on 7 October 2026.

What should you do if you submitted during this period?

Operators who attempted to submit records between 08:30 and 10:50 should check whether confirmation was received.

Where confirmation was not received, DEFRA has advised that the records should be resubmitted to the service.

What happens during an outage?

DEFRA has also reminded operators of the requirements that apply when the Report Receipt of Waste Service is unavailable.

Unless an operator has received an outage notification, the operator of a permitted facility should notify the regulator for their respective nation of the outage as soon as reasonably practicable.

Operators must continue to make a written record of the required information relating to the receipt of waste within the normal 48-hour period.

The information recorded during the outage must then be entered into the digital waste tracking system within seven days after the day the outage is resolved.

For SkipTrak customers

SkipTrak customers should continue to record their waste movements in the normal way. Our team is managing the submission process and affected records.
